Disneyana Fan Club Announces Its Disney Family Weekend Event - April 1-3, 2010 in San Francisco, CA

As previously announced, we are greatly honored to announce a very exclusive special event based out of San Francisco over the weekend of Friday, April 1 - Sunday, April 3, 2011 to honor the Disney family.

Although travel and accommodations are not included as part of the event package, we are working to finalize arrangements for group rating pricing at the landmark Palace Hotel in San Francisco. http://www.sfpalace.com. You will soon be able to contact the hotel directly to make reservations.

Event registration will be the morning of Friday, April 1, 2011 at the Palace Hotel starting at 9:00 a.m. We are hoping to have a reception area available with coffee and danish.

Late that morning, we will split the group onto two motorcoach buses, at staggered times to be announced, to be driven to the Silverado Vineyards in Napa. Each group will receive a private tour and have the opportunity to participate in wine tastings. Dress comfortably. Either on the way there or on the way back, there is a plan for each bus to stop at Gott's Roadside, formerly Taylor's Automatic Refresher, for lunch on your own.

On Saturday, April 2, 2011, the bus(es) will depart in the morning from the Palace Hotel, again at a time to be announced, to the Walt Disney Family Museum within The Presidio of San Francisco. Each attendee will be provided a 2 day pass to cover
admission for that day and Sunday as well, thereby ensuring that everyone has plenty of time to see everything.

Studio Chapter invites you to their 1st Annual GOOF OFF Trivia Challenge for Charity in November

The Studio Chapter in Los Angeles is hosting is 1st Annual GOOF OFF Trivia Challenge for Charity at the Disneyland Resort on Sunday, November 21st, at 1pm.

The Chapter has held an annual fun trivia challenge event at the resort for years, put together and moderated by one of its own members. The most recent moderator, David Ameeti, who was also the Chapter's webmaster, was diagnosed with cancer in 2009, and passed away early this year. In his honor, the Chapter has renamed the event after David's favorite Disney character, and dedicated it to be a fundraiser for charity.

Anyone is welcome to participate. The Chapter is asking that those who wish to participate pre-register, and make a suggested donation of $10 per participant. All proceeds for this year's event will be donated to a local cancer charity.

We will meet at 1pm at the Picnic Area located near the Mickey & Friends Tram stop just off the Esplanade at the Resort. The event itself will take place inside Disney California Adventure, which was David's favorite park, and where he was planning his last challenge in 2009. Admission to the park is required, and is not provided by the Chapter.

If you're in the Southern California area, we hope you will join us for a fun day at the resort, and contribute to a worthy charity at the same time.

"Timmy Time" to Premiere in North America On Disney Channel From September 13, 2010

Aardman Animation's Timmy Time is scheduled to air in North America from September 13, 2010 on Disney Channel's Playhouse Disney, following a special sneak preview on the evening of September 7th. Timmy Time is Aardman's first animated television project for the preschool audience, and the stop-motion series has already enjoyed great success in its first season of broadcast overseas.

Timmy Time follows the adventures of Timmy, a little lamb with a lot to learn as he enters preschool. Fans of Aardman's hit children's series Shaun the Sheep will recognize Timmy as the baby lamb on the farm who is frequently drawn into all kinds of chaotic adventures by the mischievous older sheep. Used to having his way by being "the only lamb in the flock", Timmy is now heading to preschool to graze on some important life lessons about playing nicely with others, namely his fellow classmates of the furry, feathered and spiky types.

Episodes portray all aspects of a preschooler's day that are familiar to parents- painting, puzzling, making music, building with blocks, napping, snacking and more- through strong but simple storylines that are told with human dialogue, instead using a unique combination of expressive character animation, gesture and reactions, comedy and slapstick, bleats, quacks, oinks and the like.

While being entertained by Timmy's fun and fleecy antics, the young audience members will benefit by seeing important social skills in action, such as how to help someone in need, how to good sports, and how to respect others. Creator/Producer/Supervising Director Jackie Cockle (BAFTA winner, producer on Bob the Builder, director of The Wind in the Willows, among other television credits) believes that "preschoolers can easily identify with Timmy as he learns universal lessons about himself, his friends and the world around him".

Check local television listings for exact airtimes, and to find out more about Timmy, his classmates, and the show, visit www.timmytime.tv.

Timmy fans can look forward to his first DVD release in early 2011 from Lionsgate and HIT Entertainment, who also distribute the DVD releases of Shaun the Sheep, the second fastest-growing children's brand on DVD in 2009. Timmy toys will also be available in Spring 2011 from JAKKS Pacific.

The Disneyana Exchange

What is the Disneyana Exchange?

Simply stated, The Disneyana Exchange Service is a secondary market art brokerage, focusing on the art of the Walt Disney Company. The Exchange started business in 1988, but wasn't known as the Disneyana Exchange until June 1993. The Exchange was founded by Disney collectors who wanted to be able to provide a service where buyer and seller are brought together for rare and hard-to-find Disney collectibles. Since its inception, the Internet and online auction sites like Ebay have revolutionized the buying and selling of collectibles. However, within the Disney collectibles industry, similar problems still remain: 1) How do you know what you are buying? ; 2) How do you guarantee the quality and authenticity of a product? ; and 3) Where do you go when there are no listings online? The Disneyana Exchange provides the family-run service and expertise that cannot be found elsewhere. The Exchange prides itself on linking buyer and seller for high-end Disneyana collectibles and inspects each piece for its quality and authenticity.

Carolwood Foundation Offers Fall Rail Trip

Hello everyone,

Our friends at the Carolwood Foundation are putting on a rail trip this October that includes some very special and very unusual events that may appeal to some of you, so we thought we'd pass this along. Hope to see some of you there!

Paul Schnebelen
Editor, Fantasyline Express

+++

"Together Again" - Fall 2010 Carolwood Foundation rail trip

The Carolwood Foundation is excited to announce the Fall 2010 Rail Trip on October 30 and 31. This excursion will feature some of the elements that made our Spring 2010 event wildly successful -- outstanding guest speakers, tantalizing cuisine, excellent company, all aboard beautifully restored private railcars. But what will make this trip a once-in-a-lifetime experience is a chance for our guests to actually ride aboard the original Santa Fe & Disneyland Railroad's combine coach!

By special arrangement with the Pacific Coast Railroad, we will reunite the combine with the other passenger cars of the fabled "Retlaw 1" consist. This is something that has not happened in over 35 years, and there are no guarantees that it will ever happen again after the combine moves to its permanent home by Walt Disney's Carolwood Barn in Griffith Park. The combine has not carried passengers since 1974, so this event presents a very rare opportunity to ride aboard what Walt himself proclaimed to be his favorite part of the SF&D railroad.

A first for this trip is that we will have two separate Amtrak trains pulling private cars to San Luis Obispo. The domed observation car Silver Lariat will originate in Oakland and includes presentations by Disney Legend Floyd Norman and Pixar story artist and voice talent Jeff Pidgeon. The Silver Splendor, the domed car from our Spring trip, will depart Los Angeles and features talks by Walt Disney Imagineering SVP Tony Baxter and WDI Principal Concept Designer Ray Cadd. Whichever train you chose, you'll start your journey Saturday morning, enjoy lunch on board and arrive in San Luis Obispo that afternoon.

You'll have Saturday afternoon free to explore charming "SLO" and enjoy dinner on your own at one of their quaint restaurants. That evening, all four of our guest speakers will participate in a panel session entitled, "Story is King: the Magic of Disney Storytelling". This event also includes the screening of rare Disney shows and the live auction of some wonderful treasures. With Halloween the next day, we may experience a few "spirited" surprises as well.

Sunday morning, busses will take guests out to the storied 1775 Santa Margarita Ranch for rides aboard the Pacific Coast Railroad behind an authentic steam engine. Be sure to bring your camera to record this historic event! We'll enjoy a delicious BBQ lunch before boarding the busses for the trip to the SLO Amtrak station and the journey home, including dinner aboard the coaches.

As another first, we are able to offer a very limited number of seats aboard the famed Scottish Thistle, a meticulously restored business car built for the senior executives of the Canadian National Railway. With seating for just 16 passengers and the services of a private chef, a journey aboard the Thistle is an elegant, intimate experience. Also departing from Los Angeles, guests on this "rail yacht" will enjoy quality time with Tony and Ray, one speaker each direction.

Due to the popularity of our last trip and the truly historic running of the SF&D combine, we expect this trip to sell out very quickly! The price for this amazing weekend is just $575 for passage aboard the Silver Lariat or Silver Splendor, and $875 for the Scottish Thistle. A 50% deposit is required by September 24, but we encourage you to make your reservation right away because the tickets will not last long.

To book your trip, please send an email to railtrip@carolwood.org. Please indicate if you want to ride on the Silver Splendor out of Los Angeles, the Silver Lariat out of Oakland, drive yourself to SLO or book passage aboard the Scottish Thistle, also out of Los Angeles. We'll respond with a message confirming your reservation, ask you for special requests and contact information, and provide instructions for payment. We gladly accept credit cards, Pay Pal or checks. Because we expect this event to quickly sell out, we'll take reservations on a "first-come, first-served" basis from mail sent to railtrip@carolwood.org.

For your stay on the night of October 30, we've arranged a special discount rate of $139 at our headquarters hotel, the SLO Embassy Suites. Please mention "Carolwood" when making your reservation to obtain this rate. You can reach the Embassy Suites at 1-805-549-0800.

We hope that you'll want to be a witness to Disney history and join us for what promises to be an amazing weekend. Please remember, the Carolwood Foundation is a 501(c)3 organization and all proceeds from this trip will help build a brand new home for the Retlaw 1 combine next to Walt's Barn.

We look forward to seeing you on board!

P.S. We understand that some of you might want to be home for Halloween and it is not likely that our trains will return early enough on Sunday night for Trick-or-Treating. We regret that we were unable to find another date this year that would work for all of our speakers and venues.

Foot Rally Winners Announced!

Seven teams participated this year in annual Foot Rally on the occasion of Disneyland's birthday. This year's rally was entitled "17 on the 17th" which consisted of a few questions from each themed area of the park plus a bonus question.

Everyone did really well in answering the questions. It was almost a tie, but just one team had an absolutely perfectly scored entry: The Three Caballeros, comprised of Bob Welbaum, Ron Aubry, and Edith Kozberg. Congratulations! The winning team will be sent a really cool prize.

Breaking News from Disneyana Fan Club

BREAKING NEWS!!!!! The Dixieland Band "The Strawhatters" from Disneyland will be playing at the Princess and the Frog Mardi Gras Party for the NFFC/Disneyana Fan Club!!!!!

A Few Notes About Registration From The Webmaster

Hello Everyone.

I'm receiving a few questions about Registration so I want to clarify things.

If you are a Member of NFFC/Disneyana Fan Club, we ask that you enter as much information as possible about your Membership. If you don't know your Member number, it's OK- we will still be able to look you up and grant Club Member privileges to you after you have registered.

The login ID and the Password that you create will be used whenever you log in to the website. You must log in to have Club Member privileges (such as looking at the copies of FantasyLine Express).

Your Club Member status is being granted manually (while we check on the status of your membership against our records), so it might take a day or two after you register to be able to have access to the Club Member exclusive area.

Guests may also register on the Website as new Members of Disneyana Fan Club (and pay for their membership)- this is for people who are not currently members of Disneyana Fan Club but wish to join.

If you have any further questions, please feel free to email me at: webmaster@disneyanafanclub.org

Thank you.

David Ransom, Webmaster, Disneyana Fan Club.

Setting Up A Member Registration

Hello again everyone,

In the last couple of days since the new website went live, I've gotten questions from current members as to how they can get full access to everything on the site. Just in case you have the same question, here's a quick and easy guide to how to set up your member account.

First off, to set up a member account, you'll need to register on the website. On the right side of the home page at disneyanafanclub.org, you'll see the "User Log On" boxes; underneath those boxes, click on the "Create New Account" link. Once you're there, choose a user name and enter your e-mail address, then fill out the profile. Be sure to choose "Yes" on the question and enter your NFFC member ID number on the profile; if you're like me and never remember your member number, it's on your membership card. Complete the verification at the bottom of the page and click on "Create New Account".

You'll be sent an e-mail to the account you provided to the website. Follow the instructions in the e-mail and you should be registered on disneyanafanclub.org. Remember how you provided your member information when you completed your profile?
That information will be passed on to our website/membership team, and as soon as we confirm your information, you should receive an e-mail from the Club letting you know that your membership's been confirmed and that you can access the member-only portions of the website. That's all there is to it! When you return to the home page and log in, you should be able to access the member-exclusive items on the site, including my favorite part, the current and archived issues of the FLEX. (Admittedly, I'm a little biased.)

If you go through registration and still encounter problems or if you follow the steps listed and you don't receive a response within a couple of days, please contact us at info@disneyanafanclub.org and we'll look into what's happening. Before you contact us, be sure to check your "Spam" folder on your e-mail account - the confirmation notice may have gone there; if it did, be sure to add the e-mail address on the letter to your approved senders list or select the "not spam" option, whichever your e-mail program uses.

Anyway, I hope that helps! If not, we're here to help - please contact us and we'll do our best to get any problems resolved. Thanks, and we hope you enjoy the new website!

New Website and the Online FLEX

Hello everyone,

It's great to be blogging you from our new online home! We have some exciting things happening - the new website, this new version of the Disneyana Dispatch, and of course, our upcoming DisneyanaMania Convention - but I want to take a moment to talk about online access to the Fantasyline Express.

I want to thank everyone for their patience over the past few months as we've dealt with some issues in the production and online posting of the FLEX. Now that disneyanafanclub.org has gone live, all of you folks who elected to receive the FLEX online will have easy access to the current and past issues of the newsletter as registered as a club member on the website.

If you're already registered as a member on disneyanafanclub.org, just log in and then click on the "Fantasyline-Express" link under the "Members" tab, then scroll down the page page the FLEX logo; you'll see a list of all available issues. Click on the title of the issue you'd like to see and you'll be taken to the web page for that issue; once you're there, click on the title highlighted in blue and you'll automatically download the issue.

Club members will have access to the most recent issue (currently April/May; the next issue, June/July, will be coming soon) and all back issues of the FLEX through August 2007. We'll be adding more back issues as soon as we can, and we'll notify you by e-mail, on the Disneyana Fan Club page on Facebook, and here in the Disneyana Dispatch when a new issue or additional back issues have been posted.

If you haven't registered yet on disneyanafanclub.org, please do! It's a quick, two-step process, and once you're registered and we've confirmed your membership, you'll have access to all sorts of great information. If you're having a little trouble getting registered as a member, we'll be posting instructions on how to register here in the Dispatch shortly.

If you have any questions, please e-mail me at editor@disneyanafanclub.org. I'll talk to you again soon!

Welcome to DisneyanaFanClub.org!

To all NFFC/Disneyana Fan Club Members , Former NFFC/DFC Club Members, and Disneyana Fans Everywhere:

Welcome! DisneyanaFanClub.org, our brand-new website, is now officially launched and open for visitors! We are excited about our new Website and about Disneyana Fan Club! On our new website, you can now register for Disneyana Fan Club Membership (and pay with credit card with our Pay Pal checkout)! Club Members can now view 22 past issues of the FantasyLine Express (our exclusive color publication). Club Members have exclusive viewing privileges to the Disneyana Fan Club’s By-Laws and the latest Financial Report.

I encourage everyone to go to www.disneyanafanclub.org , and register! It’s free to register on the website, and Registered Guests can see and do more than Non-Registered Guests.

All Registered Guests to DisneyanaFanClub.org can enjoy our Legends Profiles under the “Legacy” tab. Our Club has honored over 100 Disney Legends over the years!

Additionally, Registered Guests can check out the “Chapters” tab, where they can locate and contact any number of local NFFC/Disneyana Fan Club Chapters in the U.S. and in other countries.

Our new website now directly connects to our Club’s Facebook account, our newly-designed blog, “The Disneyana Dispatch” (which I want everyone to subscribe to and comment on), and to our new Forums. Coming soon: a connection to our YouTube channel! And, don’t forget to subscribe to “Disneyana D” on Twitter!

This website reminds me of what Walt Disney said about Disneyland, that “it will never be completed as long as there is imagination left in the world.” I think that this site will grow as long as there is imagination left in our Club and in our Club Members!

Please note that with this new website launch, we will immediately be closing our old website at nffc.org. However, anyone who goes to that web address will be automatically routed to DisneyanaFanClub.org.

So, enjoy DisneyanaFanClub.org! It’s your new website! If you have any ideas of how we can improve anything on the website or any new ideas, please feel free to contact me!

Sincerely,

David Ransom

Not only is Rick talented, but also interesting and has been likened to a younger, slimmer Elvis Presley.

At the NFFC-Disneyana Fan Club's annual luncheon on Friday July 16, Mark will be honored as an NFFC-Disneyana Fan Club Legend.
